Honors Convocation 2024
Welcome to the virtual Frederick W. Saburro Honors Convocation, the event that celebrates students with the top GPA in their major for each class year. More than 180 students representing SUNY Canton’s 31 bachelor’s degrees, 20 associate degrees, and 2 certificate programs received an award.
All of you exhibit the founding principles of SUNY Canton -- hard work and perseverance. The College community applauds your efforts to rise to the challenge everyday. Congratulations!

The David R. Maynard Student Activities Award
Zion Sankey
Zion Sankey is a Sports Management major from Schenectady, NY. Zion has hit the ground running within student life since transferring from Adirondack Community College, where he was also very active, serving as a Resident Assistant there. Although this Pandemic has been very difficult for him and many students, Zion has consistently been active and involved on this campus, virtually attending meetings and programs throughout the past few years. Zion is a student leader in several campus organizations, including Student Government Association – Secretary, Gamma Zeta Sigma, Inc. Fraternity, Brother 2 Brother Club. Beyond this, Zion has also been very active in Intramural Sports. Zion is well respected by his peers, staff, and faculty. During his tenure at Canton, he has also served on the College Association, Inc. Board of Directors – Student Representative. Most importantly, Zion has done very well within his academic career.
After he graduates this May, Zion plans to find work within his field of studies.

Sara Lynch
Sara Lynch is a student in the Electrical Engineering Technology (B. Tech) degree program. She is a good student and determined to complete her degree and become engineering professional. Sara has been on the Dean’s honors list, part-time academic honors list, and has a total grade point average (GPA) of 3.70. Sara is a student member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) at SUNY Canton, and she exhibits the highest standards of professionalism.
